Tips for healthy skin in the fall

Brazilian Gloss - Wednesday, September 29, 2023

When the weather changes so does our skin.
Here are some ways to protect it and keep it looking gorgeous all season long.

1. Just because its not 90 degrees outside and sunny doesn't mean the sun isn't out. Sunscreen is a must no matter what season. Make sure to apply sunscreen when you leave the house, at least SPF 15 with UVA and UVB protection.

2.  Sunscreen alone might not protect that beautiful skin of yours alone. Apply a moisturizer of SPF 15 or higher under your makeup.

3.  Dry skin is always a common occurrence as the season changes. To prevent your skin from drying out, exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate.  This will prevent the buildup of dead skin cells that leave the complexion looking dull.  Try to exfoliate once or twice a week.

4.  Avoid foaming face washes, astringents, and alcohol-based toners which are designed to strip the face of oil.  The less oil there is, the more dry your skin will be.   (Just like your hair, you want to make sure to keep the natural proteins and oils intact - by using sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners)

5. Don't forget to drink plenty of water and water enriched foods such as fruit so your skin shines from the inside out.

So as we say "goodbye summer, hello fall," make sure you skin is just as ready for the season change as your wardrobe.

Fashion Trends for Fall

Brazilian Gloss - Thursday, September 09, 2023

With summer soon to be behind us and Mercedes Benz Fashion Week taking place, its time to look forward to the coming season, Fall.  Fall is a great season for fashion. It’s not deathly hot or cold but just the right temperature to explore our favorite trends.

Trends to look for this fall:

Neutrals: Sophisticated neutrals such as camel and olive are back.  Mix it with charcoal, black, or denim.

Menswear: This will be big this fall. Double breasted jackets and simple white shirts.  To soften the look, wear wide-leg trousers and luxe bold jewelry.

Lace: This is one of my personal favorites.  Black Lace from dresses, tops, and skirts, adds a feminine touch to this fall trends.  Done correctly, black lace is chic.  If it’s a black lace blouse, pair it with a pencil skirt or pair a lace cami with a menswear pantsuit.

Vest: This works with everything. Mix up the fabrics-fur, knot…etc. It’s a great layering piece.  Monochromatic vest and shirts are chic and slimming! Hip-length vest can be worn unbuttoned over everything from flowing prints to sweaters.

Belted: Belts work with almost any piece of clothing and they can show off those curves.  The belted waist can be pulled off by anyone.  Put on a jacket, dress, sweater, or cardigan and add a belt!

However, we know more than anyone that it takes more than just pretty designer clothing to make some one stylish. Style encompasses everything from personality to clothing to accessories to beauty and hair. So make sure you keep yourself glamorous and glossed at all times with a keratin hair treatment.

So, which of these fashion trends will you try this fall? Or will you create your own? Tell us your opinion!

Its Time To Talk Fashion

Brazilian Gloss - Thursday, September 02, 2023

Okay, who saw the Emmys last Sunday? I wasn’t planning on tuning in but I’m so glad I did. The red carpet was the best I’ve seen in a while.  Of course there were some “what were they thinking” moments during it but overall the red carpet was a success.

Some of the Glee cast members really rocked the red carpet. Two that really surprised me were Lea Michele and Jayma Mays. Both wore navy dress that really popped on the carpet, Lea in Oscar de la Renta and Jayma in Burberry. Navy seemed to be the color of the night for many of the ladies.

The dress is important but we can’t forget about the hair. It can make or break the whole ensemble. Again, Lea Michele is at the top of my “best” list. She wore her hair down with gentle waves. It was simple and sophisticated. The glamorous Kim Kardashian had a nice updo with small curls pulled back into a bun. On the other hand, January Jones, who looked beautiful, could have used some Brazilian Gloss to prevent that frizz.

Oh, and we cant forget the men.  I thought Neil Patrick Harris’ suit was so original. He wore a gray Calvin Klein suit with black lapels and a black tie. So chic. Jon Hamm from Mad Men went the classic route, black tux and bowtie, and pulled it off effortlessly. He always looks so classy in a suit.

If you missed the Emmy’s this year be sure to tune in next year. Let’s hope the fashion is just as successful!
